    I guess I am keeping pace better than I thought. I regularly use 4 of the 6 listed here (Audacity, Gimp, Firefox and Open Office). All well written and feature rich.

    The latest version of Audacity has some great tools including noise cancellation which I have used to not only make my recordings much better but also to clean up some recordings of old relatives and put them onto CD with better clarity than the original tapes. To say the in-laws were impressed is an understatement!
