iPhone is without a doubt one of the most advanced phone that has give rise to so many giant touch screen mobiles HTC Touch Diamond2 back front side-728-75phones so far. iPhone UI experience is quite amazing and others are yet to match it. However, there are quite a few mobile phones out there who are trying to match the iPhone performance and giving a good competition to iPhone. Features are quite amazing. Here we have 20+ graphic rich, touch screen 3G mobile phones that are trying to chase iPhone away.

BlackBerry Storm 2

BlackBerry Storm series are high capable touch screen phones, WiFi enabled, 3.2MP Camera, BlackBerry Organizer with rich multimedia support.


HTC Magic

HTC Magic is Android based, a thinner variant of G1, has QWERTY keypad, WiFi, 3.2 MP Camera, GPS.


HTC Hero

HTC Hero is an Android based 3G phone with WiFi, GPS, 5MP Camera and the other usual features. It has great looks with a giant touch screen.


HTC Touch Pro 2

HTC Touch Pro 2 is based on Windows Mobile 6.1, with GPS, WiFi, 3.2MP Camera, 256MB RAM with 528MHz processor.


HTC Touch Diamond 2

HTC Touch Diamond 2 is also a Windows Mobile 6.1 based phone with 5MP Camera, GPS, WiFi and other features. It has a 528MHz processor.

LG Prada 2

LG Prada 2 has sliding QWERTY key pad, 5MP camera, WiFi, FM Radio etc. Unfortunately no GPS.

LG GT500/505

LG GT500/505 are two models with minor changes, they both have 5MP Camera, GPS, WiFi, Geo Tagging etc. GT505 doesn’t have FM radio and LED Flash. GT500 supports microSD upto 8GB, the other supports up to 16GB. GT500 is furnished with A Class Touch User Interface and Automatic Rotate Screen while GT505 doesn’t have.


LG GM750

LG GM750 is Windows Mobile 6.5 based, with WiFi, GPS, 5MP Camera etc.


LG Crystal

LG Crystal has transparent keypad, 3 inch touch screen,  multi touch, 8MP camera, 3G support, WiFi, DivX support, FM Radio and more. This model has no GPS.


Motorola CLIQ

Motorola CLIQ is Android based, 5MP camera, WiFi, 3.1 inch touch screen with GPS.


Motorola Droid

Motorola Droid is Android based mobile with advanced features like 3.7 inch touchscreen, WiFi, GPS, Google mobile services, 5MP camera and much more.


 Nokia N97

Nokia N97 is Symbian S60 based 3G phone. Other features include 3.5-inch 640×360 pixels display, 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3.5mm jack.


Palm Pre

Palm Pre is based on Web OS, has a modest 3MP Camera, HSDPA/GSM, WiFi, GPS and much more. It has a sliding QWERTY keyboard.


Samsung Omnia HD

Samsung Omnia HD is most advanced mobile phone with High Definition movie capturing capabilities and probably the first mobile to do so. It’s features are impressive with DivX support, 3.5mm Audio Jack, HDMI port, WiFi, GPS, 3G network support, 8MP camera. This phone is Symbian 9.4 based with a powerful ARM 600MHz processor, enough for the rich multimedia experience.


Samsung Jet S8000

Samsung Jet comes with redesigned TouchWiz interface and has a Samsung 800MHz processor to power the rich features. Its other features are Wi-Fi, A-GPS, 3.5mm jack, 5MP camera, 2 GB internal memory, a 3.1-inch display with WVGA resolution, incorporating the AMOLED technology. It is based on Samsung’s proprietary OS that includes its Dolphin Web browser.


Samsung Pixon

Samsung Pixon is a rich multimedia phone with 3.2" touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera and support for DivX and XviD. It is a quad-band global phone but unfortunately no WiFi/GPS.


Samsung Omnia 2

Samsung Omnia 2 runs on Windows Mobile 6.1, Has TouchWiz 2.0 for better UI, WiFi, 3.7 inch Touch Screen, 5MP camera, GPA and much more.


Toshiba TG01

Toshiba TG01 has a huge 4.1-inch WVGA 800 x 480 pixel resistive touchscreen. It runs on Windows Mobile 6.1, it has personalized interface that can also be controlled by shaking. Other features include 3G HSPA support, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS. It has powerful Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon chip. The TG01 will have a virtual track pad for web navigation and its Internet Explorer will come with Flash.

There are lots of video encoders/transcoders available on the internet and most of them are either not up to the mark or quite complex to start with. But, here is a great Open Source project that will just so this right! image HandBrake is a free and open source software that is cross platform (works on Windows/Linux as well as Mac OS) video transcoder and it is great!

Supported Sources:

  • Any DVD-like source: VIDEO_TS folder, DVD image or real DVD (unencrypted–protection methods including CSS are not supported internally and must be handled externally with third-party software and libraries), and some .VOB and .TS files
  • Most any multimedia file it can get libavformat to read and libavcodec to decode.


  • File format: MP4 and MKV
  • Video: MPEG-4, H.264, or Theora (1 or 2 passes or constant quantizer/rate encoding)
